Announce provincial competitiveness index 2018
On March 28, in Hanoi, Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) collaborated with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) held a ceremony to release the provincial competitiveness index report (PCI). On the side of Hung Yen province, the ceremony saw the attendance of Mr. Do Xuan Tuyen, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council and members of the Provincial Standing Party Committee, namely Mr.Dang Ngoc Quynh, Permanent Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Mr. Doan Van Hoa, Director of Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The PCI survey in 2018 showed that some areas of the business environment have changed more positively than 2017. Informal costs are lower; business environment for private enterprises tends to be more equal and administrative reforms show remarkable changes. Through the survey of PCI component indicators in 2018 on more than 12,000 enterprises in 63 provinces and cities, Quang Ninh province tops Vietnam’s PCI with the total score of 70.36 points on the scale of 100. Dong Thap province comes second and Long An province ranks the third.
To Hung Yen province, along with the active participation of all levels and sectors in solving difficulties and obstacles for enterprises, in 2018, a number of PCI component indicators are highly appreciated by enterprises with the total score increasing by 1.57 points compared to 2017. Among them, the indicators such as market entry, time costs, unofficial costs, fair competition, dynamics of the provincial government, business support services, legal institutions and order and security also increase compared to 2017.
At the ceremony, the Organizing Committee presented trophies to outstanding provinces in improving the PCI index in 2018.
