Hung Yen: Reviewing 5 years of implementation of Vietnam Book Day
On April 19, the Department of Information and Communications held a meeting to review 5 years of implementing Decision No. 284/QD-TTg dated 24 February, 2014 of the Prime Minister on Vietnam Book Day (Decision No. 284) and responded to the sixth Vietnam Book Day. Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duy Hung attended the conference .

Implementing the Decision No. 284, in the past 5 years, the Department of Information and Communications and other agencies, units and localities in the province have implemented many activities such as: Exhibition, book display, seminar, diseminating and introducing books, painting, story telling according to books ...
Those activities not only attract the interest and response of readers but also mobilize contributions and sponsors for libraries in the province. Especially in schools, this activity has contributed to raising students' awareness of the meaning and importance of reading. In the past 5 years, the province has donated over 6,000 books to 25 bookcases, libraries of villages, communes and schools; and attracted more than 4 thousand people to attend the Book and reading culture festival. Activities to respond to Vietnam Book Day April 21 in localities, schools and libraries are held annually with various activities; enterprises in the telecommunications industry, publishing and distribution units, individuals have participated in sponsoring over 3,000 books for libraries and bookcases. The Provincial Library issues free cards for readers, and organizes book display every April.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duy Hung asked that in the coming time, the Department of Information and Communications, agencies, units and localities should promote propaganda on reading; make plans to invest booksin libraries and bookcases in localities; organize a better reading day; improve the value of reading cultur to, form a habit of reading in every class of people. Schools continue to promote the effectiveness of the library model as well as give guidance and and orientation to students to select books suitable for their age. Enterprises need to pay more attention to reading culture.
On this occasion, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 13 collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing Decision 284.
