Vietnam’s national football team has risen to the highest position in 20 years
According to information from VFF, Vietnam accumulated 5 points from the A-level matches in June, Vietnam has increased from 1,227 to 1,232 points and from 98th to 96th in the world.

Specifically, in FIFA Day, Vietnam played 2 matches at King's Cup 2019. As a result, head coach Park Hang-seo and his students beating Thailand (1-0), equalizing Curacao the score 1-1 and losing on a penalty shootout.
This positive result helps Vietnam accumulated 5.17 points in FIFA's rankings.
This ranking helps Vietnam to rise to the 15th place in Asia. It also means that, this ranking will secure the team a ticket as group 2 seeds for the Asian zonal 2022 World Cup Qualifiers’ second round.
According to VFF, the placement of the group 2 seeds helps Park Hang-seo and his students have more opportunities to next round with only little risk of encountering many strong teams.
In Southeast Asia, Malaysia get the great increase when it jumped 9 levels to 159th position. Result in King's Cup 2019 was not good when losing 2 matches so Thailand has dropped 2 levels on the rankings, down to 116th of the world.
In the top of the Rankings, Belgium continued to rank first. The next 4 positions were unchanged with France, Brazil and England respectively.
The top 5 only had a change with Portugal's presence, the Champions League champion rose 2 places to No. 5, pushing Croatia dropping to the 6th position.
It is known that the 96th position is the highest rank that Vietnamese men’s football team has achieved in the past 20 years, since 1998 at the world’s 84th position.
